   Biografi/ Biography :

  • Associate Prof Dr. Cila Umat graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Physics from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) in 1993, Postgraduate Diploma in Audiology and Masters of Audiology from Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia in 1995 and 1996, respectively. In 2005, she obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Melbourne, Melbourne, Australia, in the area of cochlear implant psychophysics. She has been in the UKM Cochlear Implant team since 1997. She is also an advisor to the National Cochlear Implant team under the Malaysian Ministry of Health. Her research interest is in the area of hearing impairment, especially in pediatric cochlear implantation outcomes and auditory perception. She is also leading a project with the biomedical engineering team at UKM and an industrial partner in developing and commercializing an automated and interactive hearing screening device. She received research funding from international, national, industries and, the research university grants to fund her research activities.
