Dr. A. Aldrie Amir is an Associate Professor at the Institute for Environment and Development (LESTARI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. He earned a PhD in Marine Science (Mangrove Ecology) from The University of Queensland, Australia in 2011. Dr. Aldrie has led numerous research projects, and published a substantial amount of publications including articles in Science and other high impact journals. He serves on the IUCN SSC Mangrove Specialist Group and coordinates the Malaysian Mangrove Research Alliance and Network (MyMangrove), which he founded in 2017 to promote collaborative mangrove research, policy interventions, public awareness, and citizen science. His work focuses chiefly on the ecology, habitat dynamics, socio-ecological systems, conservation and sustainable management of mangroves.
