Biografi/ Biography :
Associate Professor Dr. Haslina Rani is a lecturer at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) and a specialist in Dental Public Health. She holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree and a PhD in Dental Science with a specialisation in Oral Health Promotion, both from Tokyo Medical and Dental University, Japan.
Her expertise lies in oral health promotion, with particular interest in health literacy, oral health education, and health systems research. Her PhD research focused on halitosis (oral malodour), exploring its potential as a tool to raise public interest in oral hygiene and to encourage dental visits. This reflects her broader commitment to using socially relevant and relatable topics to engage the public and influence positive oral health behaviours.
Dr. Haslina has led and contributed to various research projects involving the development of oral health education modules tailored for different target groups, including parents, children, and caregivers. She has also investigated the role of digital platforms, particularly social media, in delivering oral health messages effectively. Her research further addresses access to dental care among underserved populations, especially older adults, through studies on domiciliary oral care and mobile health interventions.
She serves as a member of the National Committee for the Development of the Oral Health Literacy Index and Education Module under the Ministry of Health Malaysia. She has been invited to speak at national and international conferences and has also shared her views on public oral health issues through local print media.
Beyond her research and administrative roles, Dr. Haslina actively supervises undergraduate and postgraduate students, engages in community health initiatives, and contributes as a journal reviewer and committee member across various academic and professional platforms.
