Biografi/ Biography :
Caryn Mei Hsien Chan adalah seorang Profesor Madya dan Pakar Perunding Psikologi di Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, yang mengkhusus dalam psikologi dan strategi perubahan tingkah laku untuk mencegah penyakit tidak berjangkit (NCD), terutamanya kawalan tembakau dan kanser. Beliau memberi nasihat kepada kerajaan Malaysia dan inisiatif global mengenai dasar dan garis panduan kesihatan negara. Beliau berkhidmat sebagai ahli Kumpulan Nasihat Teknikal WHO untuk Sains Tingkah Laku, serta dalam jawatankuasa teknikal dan kumpulan kerja bagi Konvensyen Rangka Kerja WHO tentang Kawalan Tembakau Malaysia (WHO FCTC), Pelan Strategik Nasional untuk Penyakit Tidak Berjangkit (NSP-NCD) dan Keutamaan Penyelidikan Kesihatan untuk Rancangan Malaysia ke-13. Prof. Chan juga adalah ahli lembaga eksekutif bagi Jawatankuasa Penyelidikan dan Etika Perubatan (MREC) Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia, Majlis Bioetik Negara (MBeN) MOSTI dan Timbalan Pengerusi Jawatankuasa Etika Penyelidikan UKM (JEP UKM). Dengan lebih 100 penerbitan yang disemak rakan sebaya, beliau aktif membimbing penyelidik dan menyumbang kepada inisiatif kesihatan awam di seluruh Asia Tenggara.
Caryn Mei Hsien Chan is an Associate Professor and Consultant Psychologist at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, specializing in psychology and behaviour change strategies for preventing non-communicable diseases (NCD), particularly tobacco and cancer control. She advises the Malaysian government and global initiatives on national health policy and guidelines. She serves as a WHO Technical Advisory Group member for Behavioural Sciences, and on the technical committee and working group for Malaysia’s WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC), National Strategic Plan for Non-Communicable Diseases (NSP-NCD) and Health Research Priorities for the 13th Malaysia Plan. Prof. Chan is an executive board member of the Ministry of Health Malaysia’s Medical Research & Ethics Committee (MREC), MOSTI’s Majlis Bioetik Negara (MBeN) and a Deputy Chair of UKM’s Research Ethics Committee (JEP UKM). With over 100 peer-reviewed publications, she actively mentors researchers and contributes to public health initiatives across Southeast Asia.
