Dr. Umawathy Techanamurthy merupakan pensyarah di Jabatan Pendidikan Kejuruteraan, Fakulti Kejuruteraan dan Alam Bina, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. Sebelum ini, beliau bertugas sebagai Penolong Pengarah Kanan di Bahagian Instruksional dan Pembelajaran Digital, Jabatan Pendidikan Politeknik dan Kolej Komuniti, Kementerian Pendidikan Tinggi sejak Julai 2018 sehingga Disember 2022. Sebelum itu, beliau merupakan pensyarah di Kolej Komuniti Selayang dan Kolej Komuniti Hulu Selangor dalam bidang Multimedia. Beliau menerima Ijazah Kedoktoran Teknologi Pengajaran dari Universiti Malaya pada tahun 2018. Tajuk tesis PhD adalah Development of a Flipped Classroom Module based on Problem-Solving for Community Colleges (Pembangunan Modul Kelas Berbalik berasaskan Penyelesaian Masalah bagi Kolej Komuniti). Berdasarkan kepakaran beliau dalam Kelas Berbalik dan Pembangunan Modul bersama warga industri dan SME, beliau turut mengendalikan bengkel Rekabentuk dan Pembangunan Modul Kelas Berbalik. Beliau juga aktif berkongsi melalui webinar dalam negara dan luar negara. Beliau juga pernah menjadi Penyelidik Utama bagi geran T-ARGS yang berfokuskan Pembangunan modul untuk kursus Internet of Things (IoT) di Kolej Komuniti. Antara current interests beliau adalah dalam bidang rekabentuk teknologi pengajaran, pedagogi baharu dan penggunaan teknologi untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan kemahiran menyelesaikan masalah.
Dr. Umawathy Techanamurthy is currently a lecturer at the Engineering Education Department, Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment, National University of Malaysia. Prior to this, she was a Senior Assistant Director at the Instructional and Digital Learning Division, Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education, Ministry of Higher Education since July 2018 to Dec 2022. Prior to that, she was a lecturer at Kolej Komuniti
Selayang and Kolej Komuniti Hulu Selangor where she taught Multimedia related subjects. She received her PhD in
Instructional Technology from University Malaya in 2018. Her PhD thesis is entitled the Development of a Flipped Classroom Module based on Problem-Solving for Community Colleges. Based on her expertise in Flipped Classroom and
Module Development with industry and subject matter experts, she conducts workshops on Flipped Classroom module
design and development. She also conducts knowledge sharing webinars, both locally and internationally. She is the principal investigator for the T-ARGS research grant focusing on Flipped Classroom module development for Internet of Things (IoT) at Community Colleges. Her current interests are in instructional design and new pedagogies and use of technology for knowledge gain and problem-solving skills development.
