Professor Ir. Dr. Mohd Sobri Bin Takriff obtained his PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas, USA in 1996. Professionally Prof. Sobri is a Fellow of the Institution of Chemical Engineers, UK, a registered Chartered Engineer with the UK Engineering Council and a registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia. Prof. Sobri has a vast experience as a researcher, academic administrator, consultant, accreditation panel, member of board of studies, and research grants evaluator. His current appointments include Director of IDEA-UKM, Co-Chair holder Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Sime Darby Foundation Chair for Sustainable Development and Director of UKMPakarunding. Prof. Sobri headed various major research programs funded by the government institutions, the industry as well as international research funding sources. Currently he is heading a major research program on sustainability research program with a total funding of RM16.7 million. Prof. Sobri has established research collaboration with Wageniegen University, The Netherland, Feng Chia University, Taiwan, Chiba University, Japan and the Thailand Institute of Scientific and Technology Research.
