   Biografi/ Biography :

  • Dr. Mohd.Heikal Mohd.Yunus, is a senior medical lecturer in the Department of Physiology, Faculty of Medicine, National University of Malaysia since March 2009. He has been an Associate Research Fellow at the Tissue Engineering Center since 2009. He obtained a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Master in Medical Science Physiology from the National University of Malaysia under the supervision of Professor Dato ` Dr. Ruszymah Hajj Idrus. He was subsequently awarded a PhD (Pharmacology) specialized in Regenerative Medicine from the same university. His expertise in the field of Regenerative Medicine was recognized when he was appointed as a Working Committee of the Amendment of the Human Tissue Act 1974 by the Ministry of Health Malaysia in 2017. He was also appointed cGMP Laboratory Clinical Trials Coordinator for cell therapy and tissue engineering under the auspices of Centre for Research UKM in 2008 and Chief Clinical Officer at Cell Tissue Technology Sdn. Berhad in 2014 where he was assigned the responsibility of screening patients who were potentially treated using the ‘MyDerm` product and subsequently served as a liaison between the production division and the surgeon. Dr. Mohd Heikal is a specialist in the field of Regenerative Medicine and his research focuses on the areas of skin tissue engineering, tracheal and cartilage tissue. His research focuses on the reconstruction of human tissues through tissue engineering methods from autologous samples where replacement tissue is manufactured using a portion of the patient`s own tissue to treat injuries or defects in parts of the body. He has received various awards both inside and outside the UKM. In 2014, Dr. Mohd. Heikal was selected as the finalist in the final of the Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) initiative’s Technology-Idea (Tech-I) at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) in Marrakech, Morocco. He was one of 15 participants selected from over 70 countries around the South America, Africa, and Asia. He was also the winner of the
