Biografi/ Biography :
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Goon Jo Aan earned her PhD from UKM in 2007 and has been a dedicated academic and researcher at the university ever since. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 2016 and served as Head of the Department of Biochemistry from 2018 to 2025. Her research focuses on the role of antioxidant supplements in preventing age-related disorders and promoting healthspan. She also uses Caenorhabditis elegans as a model organism to explore the molecular mechanisms of aging. Dr. Goon has led various national and international research projects, securing over RM5 million in funding. She has published more than 52 peer-reviewed papers and successfully supervised numerous PhD and MSc students. She has received multiple awards for research and education and is actively involved as an external examiner and accreditation assessor. She was instrumental in establishing the Joint PhD Degree in Medical Science between UKM and Shiga University of Medical Science, Japan.
