Biografi/ Biography :
Dr. Noor Akmal Shareela Ismail is an academic leader, medical education innovator, and translational biomedical researcher at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Trained in medical genetics and molecular biomarker research, her scientific work focuses on translational precision medicine, integrating molecular diagnostics, biomarker discovery, and emerging biosensor technologies to improve early disease detection and risk stratification.
Over the past decade, her academic trajectory has evolved to uniquely bridge biomedical science, artificial intelligence, and medical education transformation. She is nationally recognised for pioneering the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into medical teaching, learning, and assessment, contributing to the development of future-ready healthcare professionals capable of working within digitally enabled healthcare systems.
Dr. Akmal serves as Chairperson of the Artificial Intelligence in Medical Education Conference (AIMEC), a regional platform that connects academic institutions, healthcare providers, industry partners, and policymakers to advance AI-enabled medical education. She is also the Founder of the AI in Medicine Society, Malaysia, dedicated to advancing scholarship, research collaboration, and policy dialogue in AI-driven healthcare and medical education.
Her academic portfolio reflects a strong commitment to scholarship of teaching and learning (SoTL), translational biomedical research, and national capacity building in Digital Health and AI. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, curriculum innovation, and strategic leadership, she continues to contribute to the development of sustainable, technology-enabled healthcare education ecosystems at institutional, national, and regional levels.
