   Biografi/ Biography :

  • Dr. Ezanee received her first degree in University Malaya (Genetics & Molecular Biology), then carried on her passion in science by enrolling as a full-time Master student in the Faculty of Medicine, UKM. Her research then looking into chromosomal aberrations in thyroid neoplasms and was exposed in several molecular cytogenetic techniques (CGH, array-CGH) and BRCA1/ BRCA2 mutation detection in breast cancer (PCR, sequencing). Immediately after, Dr Ezanee joined as a tutor in UKM Medical Molecular Biology Institute (UMBI) (2008), then converted her post to Young research fellow (2009) upon receiving her Master degree (MMed.Sc. Pathology). In 2008-2012, she was involved in several projects such as the Genotyping XMEs in breast and cervical cancer, a genome-wide methylation analysis of breast and colorectal cancers and Diabetic GWAS, all utilising the microarray applications. She was involved in the Lab Accreditation MS ISO/IEC: 17025 as Technical Manager (2009-2011). In 2012, she pursued her Ph.D degree in Centre for Cancer Research and Cell Biology, Queen’s University Belfast, UK where she conducted research studying the underlying molecular mechanisms in driving poor prognosis in triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). In the UK, she was also the vice-president for the Malaysian Postgraduate in Northern Ireland (MyPNI) taking parts in group knowledge sharing and charity activities. She was conferred her Ph.D (Medicine) in 2017, a year after her viva voce. Upon returning, Dr Ezanee is actively applying for research grants and succeeded to obtain 3 research grants in triple negative breast cancer as principle investigator. She is also a co-researcher for 6 other projects related to her field and expertise. She is also actively involved in MS ISO/IEC 17025:2017 as Approved Signatory for HLA B*1502 genotyping in epilepsy and was part of the national emergency COVID-19 task force as Approved signatory. Dr Ezanee now has six students under her supervision both as main (2) and co-supervisor (4).
