Su Datt earned his PhD in Structural and Molecular Biology from University College London and currently leads a research group at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, specialising in structural bioinformatics. His work focuses on developing computational pipelines (recently incorporating machine learning) to analyse the impact of mutations on protein structures, with applications in host-viral interactions, antimicrobial resistance, and crop breeding. He is an executive committee member of the Malaysian Society of Bioinformatics and Computational Biology and serves as an editor for the Malaysian Journal of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology.
