  • Dr. Murni Nazira Sarian is a Senior Lecturer and Research Fellow at the Institute of Systems Biology (INBIOSIS), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), leading research on functional secondary metabolites and biomaterials for wound healing and tissue regeneration. Her work bridges natural product chemistry and biomedical engineering, driving bio-innovations that transform laboratory discoveries into safe, effective, and sustainable health applications. With over 39 indexed publications (H-index 19) in leading Q1–Q2 journals, Dr. Murni is recognized as one of Malaysia’s emerging scientific voices in natural product-based therapeutics. She has spearheaded national research grants under FRGS and Dana Impak Perdana (DIP) and built international collaborations with institutions in the United States, Pakistan, and Indonesia. Beyond research, she serves as Head of Industrial and Community Networking (2024–2027) and Coordinator of the Professional Certificate in Regulatory Affairs of Herbs, Supplements & Cosmetics, advancing the science-to-policy nexus for safer herbal and cosmetic innovations. An accredited HRD Trainer and UKM Innovation Ambassador (2023–2025), Dr. Murni has received numerous accolades, including the Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (2024), Gold Medal IREx (2024), and Anugerah Jasa Bakti (2025). Her vision is to empower sustainable innovation through science-based regulation of natural products and biomaterials, strengthening Malaysia’s bioeconomy while enhancing societal health and well-being.
