Biografi/ Biography :
Dr. Sok Kuan Wong is an Associate Professor at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Her field of expertise includes cell signaling, immunomodulation, bone metabolism, metabolic syndrome, and natural products. She has been internationally ranked as a Top 2% Scientist by Elsevier for five consecutive years from 2020 to 2024. She is also a recipient of the L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science 2024.
She has represented Malaysia at several prestigious international meetings with Nobel Laureates, including: (a) the 15th HOPE Meeting with Nobel Laureates organised by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Japan; (b) the 72nd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (Physiology or Medicine) and the 70th Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting (Interdisciplinary) organised by the Council for the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings, Germany; and (c) the Global Young Scientists Summit organised by the National Research Foundation, Prime Minister’s Office, Singapore.
At the national level, she received the National Young Scientist Award in 2024. The books that she co-authored received prestigious awards: National Book Award and the Bitara Award for Book Publication in 2021 and 2025. Her other accolades include the Outstanding Service Award 2025, Science and Technology Research Grant from the Malaysia Toray Science Foundation (2018), the Khalid Kadir Award (2021), the Malaysian Society of Pharmacology and Physiology Young Investigator Award (2022), and the International Conference on Drug Delivery and Translational Medicine (ICDDTM’23) Travel Grant Award (2023).
