   Biografi/ Biography :

  • Dr. Nurul Aqilah Mohd Zaini is a researcher / lecturer in Department of Food Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology, University Kebangsaan Malaysia. Dr Aqilah received her PhD (Food and Nutritional Sciences) from University of Reading, United Kingdom in 2018 in the area of Food Bio-process and Food Biotechnology. Her PhD research was on reutilising Dried Distiller`s Grains with Solubles (DDGS), a by-product from bioethanol industry, to produce D-lactic acid via fermentation and subsequently for poly-D-lactic acid production (PDLA). Currently, Dr. Aqilah`s research focused on bioconversion of food waste / by-product from agricultural industry such as expired drink, palm oil empty fruit bunch, coconut husk to valuable compound such as organic acid and bacterial cellulose via enzymatic hydrolysis and fermentation technology for food application. Besides, she also working on evaluation of the potential of fermented food as probiotics.
